 Review a Phone Bhooth Katrina kaif 2022 movie

Must know it is only a review not a spoiler...

Two single lady    who share a home, Gullu and Major (Ishaan and Siddhant Chaturvedi), want to work as ghost hunters. 

They are able to do so to a certain extent with the aid of Ragini, a benevolent ghost played by Katrina Kaif. 

But as they become involved in Ragini's broader scheme to rescue her sweetheart from the grasp of a wicked baba, Aatmaram, their trip encounters an obstacle (Jackie Shroff).

A unique and varied comedy, Gurmmeet Singh's Phone Bhoot was written by Ravi Shankaran and Jasvinder Singh Bath. 

It is clear from the events that the writers and the director spent a lot of time visualising every minute of the movie to ensure that it didn't lose its momentum halfway through.

Like in movies like Andaz Apna Apna, the protagonists are self-aware and aware of their circumstances.

This creates the perfect setting for humour, which is unapologetically expressed and character-driven in the screenplay. 

The story also skillfully incorporates allusions to vintage horror films (Ramsay Brothers' films), as well as some recent and some older Hindi films. 

The banter in the script will draw you into the absurd world of this movie and keep you laughing for the most part.

 

Having said that, the movie drags in the first half till Jackie Shroff joins the cast. 

Although that shifts the movie's momentum for the better, it also makes the final conflict in the second half a little bit foreseeable. 

There are a few places where there are small but obvious flaws. 

Additionally, the movie employs some artistic licence.

 

The movie also indulges in some artistic licence that ought to have been fully avoided because doing so would have improved the story's interest and entertainment value.

Technically, the film's visual effects, production design, and prosthetics are flawlessly in tune with the story. 

The film's editing is good, although it might be smoother. 

The songs in this story serve merely as decorative elements. 

You don't mind them, but you don't bring them home either.

As the ghost-hunting three, Ishaan, Katrina, and Siddhant have a great sense of humour. 

The guys performed with assurance. 

They are the modern-day Amar and Prem who don't interfere with one another's screen time or performances. 

It's nice to feel the chemistry between them. 

Additionally, the filmmaker made sure that the 

The filmmaker has also made sure that throughout the duration of the film, a balance between each character's screen time and overall presentation is maintained.

Katrina Kaif has a lovely appearance. 

She takes care to avoid dominating the story; she creates her bro-code with the boys; and she gives a natural performance by focusing on her strong points. 

In this mixture, Jackie Shroff is the tadka. 

He is the key component of this comedy; without him, the movie's level of humour would not exist.

Overall, Gurmmeet Singh creates a distinct horror comedy that differs from most of the content one has seen this year. 

This one is worth seeing in the theatre only for that reason.
